Keith Haring Bathroom Restored

Kudos to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center for restoring Keith Haring‘s mural! I’ve been in this room many times when it was being used as a conference room, but since it’s a very narrow room, it was always a bit challenging to maneuver around the table and chairs. For the rest of this month it can be experienced unencumbered by furniture. Go see it if you have a chance! Here are some photos I took the other night.

Text from the LGBT Center:
Keith Haring painted a mural entitled Once Upon a Time in the second floor men’s room. Since The Center Show opened on June 1, 1989, the “Haring Bathroom” has become an internationally known tourist destination. Completed months before he died of AIDS, this mural is perhaps Haring’s most personal and resonant expression of sexual jouissance, and is the only Haring mural of its kind.

Public Viewing of the Keith Haring Mural
The Keith Haring Bathroom will be open for public viewing during regular Center hours March 7-31, 2012. Full description and INFO

Please consider donating to the Center.
